Our Story

You can shed tears that they are gone,
Or you can smile because they lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that they will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that they have left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see them,
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember them and only that they are gone
Or you can cherish their memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what they would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
                                                                                                               ~David Harkins.

My family and I have experienced grief ourselves, and know how painful it can be. We lost our beautiful boy, James, on the 16th January 2011. James was only 10 years old when he left us, his courageous battle with cancer spanning 8 years. He was an inspiration to all who knew him.

James will be forever in our hearts.

Losing James was the beginning of another journey for me. I have cried, laughed at wonderful memories and cried many times more. It was after James’s passing that I was wanting to find special mementos, items that would be appropriate to his memory and my already treasured keepsakes. This search proved difficult and became the inspiration for me to begin to create Forever In My Heart.

I have since collected and made many special keepsakes and I continue to do so even now. I wear my special heart keepsake memorial pendant with his ashes around my neck, so my precious James is close to me. I am making a memory album, which will sit on our coffee table, for our family, friends and visitors to look through, to cherish our wonderful memories. I have candles, just for James, to light when we reach an anniversary or to light when I feel a little down. Everyone experiences and copes with this pain differently. The grieving process is so personal. We all need to find our own way of coping, finding comfort and treasuring the memories for the special someone we have lost.

My hope, through this website, is to give you a selection of keepsakes to treasure, to comfort you through your grief, not just initially, but for all of the first experiences we have without our loved one in the weeks, months and years to follow.

I also know how difficult it can be for family and friends to help in this time of need. Often not knowing what to say or do to help someone we care about feel better or to express heartfelt condolences in a personal way.

I have personally selected a collection of meaningful and thoughtful sympathy, condolence and bereavement gifts to send for comfort, healing and remembrance. Gifts that will show how much you care and that will be forever treasured.

This is just the beginning for FOREVER IN MY HEART. I will be continually searching for new additions for the collection adding new sympathy gifts and keepsakes to comfort, heal and cherish.
